*Christmas was spent with many friends and family. He had a great time eating all the sweets and opening all of his gifts. He was extremely excited when there were tractors, trucks and Cars "the movie" items. He got so many we are almost thinking of building another house so we can fit them all in. Some of his favorite items are his 4 wheel drive John Deere Tractor, Batman Cave fort and forklift/truck set from Papa Truck (Jerry); his Outdoor Grill Set from Papa Tractor and Nana; his "Cars" table and chair set from Auntie Autumn and Stez; the "Cars" zip car from Uncle Mike and Auntie Jess; and Thanks to everyone who supported him in the Bailey "toys for tots" drive :)!
*Soon after Christmas we headed to the Cities for Jaren to take his first airplane ride to Cancun (we arrived back to the states the friday after new years). This was a Christmas gift from Nana Lori, Papa Tractor (Gary) and "Uncle" Stez (Steve). Jaren did pretty well in the plane until the landing part - the plane was getting warm from everyone''s window shades open and...well...mom caught about 3/4 of it :( yuck.
*Jaren loved being in the water and sand. He had plenty of opportunity to play in what he calls the "big water" and "big sand". He loved taking all the empty drink cups and pouring and filling them over and over again. Jaren spent hours in the kiddie and adult pools (and at the pool bar with Nanna Lori - his new phrase was "Nanna Bar" and "7up Straight Up" - thanks Nanna ;)) with everyone - he never wanted to take a nap or go back to the room at night.
*Cancun had great hot humid weather (except a few windy days) and saw and met people from all over the world - Jaren always blew kisses and winked at the girls (Daddy taught him that) and made his cold face for the guys.
*Overall the trip was great - other than our hotel (after hurricane Wilma over a year ago wiped out more than 80% of Canun) had a bit of a running water and mold problems. After a long day of trying to switch rooms - Daddy, Papa and Stez got us to the very top floor of our hotel which had brand new rooms that opened the week before. That was good - because staying in rooms with black mold was not appealing. A word to the wise - make sure you double check with your travel agent before hitting Cancun resorts/hotels as for fear of this hitting many of them ---- and if you want to ''relax'' (what''s that?) - don''t bring a 2 year old ;) Thanks Papa, Nana and Stez for trip and all the great memories!!
OTHER LITTLE UPDATES
*Learning new words and phrases - is a copy cat.
*Likes to run! He runs everywhere and always asks someone if they "want to go fast".
*Likes to pull off all the cushions on the couch and "hop hop".
*Likes to dig in our closet and get out plastic hangars and play "guns" - we run in circles with him saying "bang bang" - we wear out before he does.
*Likes to help feed Hunter everyday - is very good at getting the right amount of food in his dish and puts the cover back on the food container.
*Has figured out how to turn the TV on with the remote and put DVD''s into the player after he is told to go to bed for the night...stinker.
*Is very hard to put to bed at night - he will not stay in his room. When we were in Cancun he slept in between us for a week and a half and now that is a very hard habit to break -- so think of us between the hours of 3 - 4 am and know that there is someone little tossing and turning, kicking and punching and poking our ears and armpits --EVERY NIGHT!! There are some nights I throw a pillow on the floor and lay him on it - then he rolls over to Hunter''s bed and kicks him off or cuddles with him.
*Loves sweets. We have to bribe him constantly to eat enough "good food" before he can have any. He has figured out how to use his stools to get into the freezer, fridge or cupboards and help himself.
*The kid loves water! Everynight I finish the dishes that don''t fit in the dishwasher - he is there right beside me pouring water all over the clean dishes (shirt soaking wet). Then when it''s bathtime - and hour doesn''t seem long enough to him.
*Likes to play with his tractors, combine (which he calls "Frank" from "Cars"), trucks, baseball t-set (in the basement), shoot hoops, box with his boxing set, play his piano and help daddy build things using his plastic tool sets.
*Lastly, he loves tv/movies. His favorites are "Cars" (especially the Tractor Tipping Part - imagine that - which he always says "tractor POOP!"), "All About John Deere for Kids" parts 1-4, "Bob the Builder", "The Incredibles", "Shrek 2", "Blues Clues", "Elmo''s Potty Time", "Sesame Street", "Doodlebops", "Handy Manny", "Follow that Bird" -- ok so our kid watches a lot of TV -- maybe we should cut back.
*Lately, Jaren has enjoyed drawing and painting.
*Most of all he loves to spend time with Grandma Jennifer, Papa Jerry, Papa Gary and Nana Lori, Auntie Autumn, Auntie Jess and Uncle Mike and all of this friends at daycare - Debbie, Leah, Jacqulin, Blake, Chase, Victoria, Grace, Shaun, Carter and Makenzie.
I think that''s about it for now. Check back later and don''t forget to check out his new photos (hopefully I''ll get a chance to get some video in too).
